I hope everyone has seen our new marquee. It is beautiful! I’d like to thank the District and the PTA for helping us get it.
We are very fortunate to have so many giving and supportive parents, families, and community members and businesses. The Panther Jamz will be held tonight from 5:30 – 8:00, and we hope that you will be able to attend. It is so fun for the students to see their teachers and staff members battle with the lip sync contest. It is also a great time to meet other families that attend our school.
Get ready for another battle, “The Penny War on Drugs!” Starting on Monday, October 29, it’s Pennies and Positively Drug Free. (Turn your back on drugs by wearing your shirt backward.) On Tuesday, Knock your Socks off with Nickels for being drug free. (Wear crazy socks.) On Wednesday, it’s Dress up for Dimes and Book-o-ween! Students dress up as a book character and we parade around the school starting at 7:50 AM. Thursday is Quirky Hair for Quarters and being Drug Free. Friday is Be on a Drug-Free Team and wear your Colors for Cash! The money raised from this fundraiser will be used for S.T.E.A.M. opportunities. We will finish the week with a Family Movie Night at 6:00, which will be the last time to donate cash and checks.
Thanks for everything you do for our Hunter’s Green Panthers. If there is anything I can do to be of assistance, please feel free to call.

Thanks to all that braved the windy and drizzling conditions to participate in the annual Bike and Walk to School day event. We had a great turnout! Thanks to Safe Routes, St. Joseph’s Hospital and Hillsborough County Sheriff’s office for supporting the event. Check out some of the pictures below!
It’s that time of year for our Student Council Elections! Starting Monday 10/22, elections will be held to fill our student council officer spots. Students running for President, Vice President, Secretary, Community Outreach, and Treasurer will present speeches on the morning show explaining why they are the best candidate. Every child in the school will have the opportunity to vote for our officer positions. Good luck to all of our candidates!
Our Community Outreach is already kicking off our first community service project. We will be collecting canned goods and other non-perishable food items to send to elementary schools in the panhandle who have been affected by Hurricane Michael. Please consider sending in a few items to help our cause.
Our Makerspace is up and running! Most orientations are complete, and teachers are beginning to sign up for their class to visit room 219. This month’s Makerspace focus is on our science unit about Force and Motion. All grade levels study force and motion by analyzing a push or pull, motion via magnets, or comparing speed.
During the month of October, follow #STEMtober to see the STEMtastic learning all over Hillsborough County.
We are always open to having volunteers coordinate with their child’s teacher or Amanda Glover to set up workshop times or info sessions about your STEM career (ex: crocheting, carpentry, arts).
We are also always collecting household recyclables and STEM materials such as LEGOs, Kinex, Lincoln Logs, snap circuits, magnetic building blocks and more.
Be sure to follow Hunter’s Green Elementary on Twitter @HGEpanthers and Facebook to see all of our Makers in action!
Students who receive Panther Mart bucks can go to the Panther Mart store once a week on their designated day to spend their hard-earned cash. Some of the cool things they can buy in Panther Mart are wares made by other Hunter’s Green Elementary students. The budding entrepreneurs have their wares on sale for panther bucks!
As part of the experience, all Panther Mart entrepreneurs come up with a display that details what they sell and the price.
